The pre-blog checklist we use on discovery calls
Service pages written. Address and GST trust visible. Form or WhatsApp logged. Analytics installed. One person named as editor. If any box is open, the blog will hide the real work.
A static site without a CMS is a hint you are not ready to publish weekly. Either stay static or pick WordPress/Next.js on purpose.
NAP and service URLs beat article one
Google still needs to know who and where you are. A blog cannot compensate for a homepage that never names the city or the offer.
What a Binderr-length guide is — and is not
It is a complete answer: direct answer, FAQs, unique sections, India-specific examples, and internal links. It is not 2,000 words of synonym soup. If you cannot add a story from your delivery, you do not have an article yet.
Forty stubs lose to one guide that a buyer finishes. We will not take a retainer to manufacture stubs.
Cluster around money pages
Each guide should support a service URL you already sell. Orphan posts about generic “digital trends” do not compound.
Who writes, who edits, who ships
A practitioner drafts facts. An editor cuts. A developer or WP-capable person handles images, schema, and internal links. One human can wear two hats. Zero humans wearing all three is why blogs die in March.
Tamil/Hindi drafts need a native edit. Do not publish raw machine translation and call it GEO.
Founder voice notes
Valid as raw material. Invalid as the published post. Budget the transcription and edit, or do not record.
CMS choice is a publishing choice
Classic WordPress remains the default Indian SME blog because hiring and plugins are easy. Wix blogging is fine for rare updates; it is a weak factory. Next.js MDX is excellent for a studio that already ships code.
If you are still on Wix and planning a real content program, read Wix vs WordPress and migrate without losing SEO before you invest in 20 Wix posts.
Framer and Webflow blogs
Fine for a light journal on a marketing site. Poor for five contractors publishing in Tamil every week. Framer vs WordPress.
SEO compounding versus ads landings
Blogs compound when queries are informational and you can win them. Ads landings convert now. Many firms need both and confuse them. Do not turn the blog into a graveyard of expired offers.
Measure landing → event, not “blog sessions.” GA4 plan.
Cannibalising your own service page
If the blog post targets the same head term as the money page, merge or differentiate. Two weak URLs lose to one.
Stores and “content marketing” fashion
A Shopify journal helps when it answers size, care, and festival gifting with SKUs linked. It does not replace collection SEO. Instagram can stay the brand channel — website vs Instagram Shop.
Do not start a blog to please a marketplace algorithm you do not understand. Start it to answer buyers you already talk to.
UGC is not a blog
Reviews and reels belong on PDPs and social. A blog still needs authored, dated, maintained articles.
Calendars that survive Indian holidays
Plan around exam season, Diwali, and your delivery crunch — not a US editorial calendar. Batch drafts in quiet months. Skip weeks on purpose rather than shipping junk.
Update old winners before writing new mediocre posts. updatedAt is part of trust when facts change (GST, platforms, prices).
The abandoned /blog is a signal
Last post 2019 tells buyers you left. Unpublish or update. A clean site with no blog beats a ghost town.
Design and templates so publishing is cheap
A post template with title, hero, TOC, FAQs, and CTA saves hours. If every article needs a designer, you do not have a blog — you have a campaign studio. That is fine if you budget it; it is fatal if you do not.
Accessibility and mobile still apply to posts: headings, alt, contrast. WCAG.
Cost: pages first, then a publishing retainer
Do not spend the content budget before the ₹28,000 business site has service URLs. Then fund SEO at ₹15,000/mo if you want us in the calendar — or staff internally.
Headless publishing costs more per change. Only buy it if the front end already required Next.js.
AI volume plays
We will not ship 50 AI posts to “feed the blog.” That is how you earn a rewrite year and a credibility hole.
Decision: start, wait, or never
Start: money pages live, owner named, two guide topics drawn from real WhatsApp questions. Wait: copy and CRM still broken. Never: you sell through relationships only and refuse to publish — that can be honest; do not fake a journal.
We will say never on a consultation if that saves you a year of guilt. Contact from Thousand Lights.
First three posts we usually recommend
One comparison you already explain on calls, one process/timeline piece, one objection/pricing piece. Not “welcome to our blog.”
