Technical SEO: can a bot use the site?
Robots.txt, noindex accidents, canonical wars, chained redirects, mixed HTTP, pagination traps, parameter duplicates, and JS that never prints the offer. If Google Search Console coverage is a dumpster, stop writing blogs.
Speed is user experience *and* crawl budget on large sites. On a 12-page brochure, speed is mostly conversion and quality, not “budget.” Still fix LCP on Jio 4G.
Hosting is technical SEO
Shared hosting in a far region plus unoptimized images is a self-inflicted ranking tax. Website rebuilds (from ₹28,000) sometimes beat another year of “technical retainers” on a dying install.
On-page SEO: does this URL deserve the query?
Title, H1, first paragraph, intent match, internal links, media, and FAQ. The page should answer the query without a pop-up gauntlet. Thin city clones fail here even if technical scores are green.
On-page includes information architecture. One URL cannot rank for ten unrelated services. Hub-and-spoke beats a mega-homepage.
The first 80 words are the ranking abstract
State the service, the city if local, and the constraint (price band, who it is for). That also feeds AEO snippets. Writing: AI Overviews and ChatGPT.
Off-page SEO: will anyone else vouch?
Links, brand mentions, profiles, PR. Quality beats quantity. A link from a Tamil Nadu industry body beats 50 homepage links from “guest post accepted” blogs.
Reviews and GBP are off-site trust for local. Treat them as local off-page, not as a substitute for website content.
Digital PR vs link insertion
Useful story + journalist = mention. Paying ₹400 for a contextual link on a dated article is a policy risk. We prefer the former and will say no to the latter.
What still moves rankings in competitive India SERPs
For local pack: proximity, reviews, categories, on-page relevance. For national info: depth, uniqueness, and some authority. For commercial: all three plus a site that converts so you can afford to keep going.
Helpful-content systems punish scaled sameness. Programmatic vs handwritten.
E-E-A-T is not a fourth box you buy
It is how you staff on-page (who writes) and off-page (who mentions you). E-E-A-T for Indian services.
A simple bottleneck diagnostic
If important URLs are not indexed → technical. If indexed but average position 40 with thin copy → on-page. If page-one for brand but invisible for category with years of content → off-page/brand. If pack is empty with a complete site → GBP/local, not “more blogs.”
Run this before buying a 50-article package.
Search Console over screenshots of Ahrefs
Ahrefs is useful. Your own coverage and query report is decisive. We start there on every consultation.
CMS reality: WordPress vs Next.js layers
WordPress: on-page is easy; technical decays via plugins. Next.js: technical can be excellent; on-page stalls if nobody has a CMS. Choose the bottleneck you can staff. WordPress vs Next.js; when to go custom.
Wix/Shopify have their own technical ceilings. Stack overview: WordPress vs Wix vs Shopify vs Framer vs React.
Plugin audits are technical on-page hygiene
Two SEO plugins writing two canonicals is a self-own. One source of titles. One sitemap.
How AEO/GEO map onto the three layers
On-page: answer blocks, FAQs, authors. Technical: HTML, schema, crawler access. Off-page: corroboration so models and Google trust the entity. AEO, GEO.
Buying “GEO off-page” as 200 AI-generated guest posts is still spam.
llms.txt is technical-optional
A map for machines. Not a ranking lever. llms.txt.
Budget: do not fund the wrong layer
₹15,000/mo should not be 100% guest posts if the site is not indexable. It should not be 100% Lighthouse if you have two paragraphs of copy. Brevia splits hours based on the diagnostic.
Rebuild floors: Landing Page ₹7,500; Business Website ₹28,000; Dynamic + SEO ₹50,000 + ₹15,000/mo. Ads ₹20,000/mo + spend while organic layers catch up.
In-house writers plus agency technical
A common hybrid: you draft, we fix IA/technical/off-page. Agency vs in-house.
What we refuse in each layer
Technical: cloaking, sneaky redirects. On-page: spun city pages. Off-page: PBNs, hacked links, review gating that violates Google policy.
Those refusals are cheaper than a recovery project.
Recovery is its own scope
If a previous vendor left a penalty-like pattern, we audit before promising growth. Manual actions are rare; unhelpful-content drag is common.
How Brevia reports the three layers from Chennai
Technical: issues closed. On-page: URLs shipped/updated and query movement. Off-page: links/mentions that are real enough to show a human. Leads over vanity DA.
A 90-day expectation
Bottleneck identified, money URLs improved, indexing clean, a small off-page plan if needed. Not page-one on every ego keyword.
